art statement

I've taken art history courses and art interpretation courses, but I have no formal art background or studio art classroom experience. I want to major in art to prepare me for a career within the creative realm. Whether it is as an art consultant for an advertising firm, a freelance artist, or a creative director for a magazine, I know whatever I do in life it has to be art related if i want to be happy. The study of aesthetics and methods of expressing oneself have always fascinated me, but it wasn't till I was accepted to the University of South Florida that there was a program present that could genuinely assist me in growing as an artist and more importantly as a communicator. I think art is more so an education in expression than anything else, sometimes expressing the subconscious, the radical, the beautiful, and the devastating. I chose to major in art to learn how to speak to the world in a creative way. I fully believe that within the art program my own aesthetics can be fine-tuned and will reach their full capabilities.
